Here’s what life looks like at Alpenglow Music Program…

Rehearsals

Broadmoor Community Church has hosted our rehearsals for several years now. These rehearsals were a time for our participants to learn and grow both through the music they played and through their interactions with fellow musicians.

Yoga for Artists

Playing an instrument is hard on the body and, like any engaging and challenging activity, can be mentally or emotionally draining. This makes physical and mental recovery especially important. In the past our participants have had the opportunity to work with Martha Muehleisen, who in addition to being a fantastic violinist and one of our regular faculty members is also a certified yoga instructor. This summer’s participants will get that same opportunity!

Masterclass and Workshop with Jason Shafer

In addition to his performing work as principal clarinetist of the Colorado Symphony, Jason Shafer works with musicians on managing performance anxiety.

Several of our participants had the opportunity to play solo repertoire for Jason and receive feedback, then we had a fascinating Q&A session to learn more about performance anxiety — what it is, where it comes from, and how to manage it.

Concert

After a week of rehearsals, masterclasses and workshops, our participants had the opportunity to share their music with friends and family. Here are a few of our fantastic ensembles…

Divertimento in Bb Major, II. Andante quasi Allegretto “Choral St. Antoni”

by Joseph Haydn

You might recognize this melody, but you have probably never heard it played on this combination of instruments. This mixed quintet is comprised of five returning musicians, some of whom have been with AMP from the very beginning, and we strive to continue to give them the highest caliber experience possible.

This ensemble was coached by Paul Nagem.

String Quintet in C minor, Op. 104

by Ludwig van Beethoven

Fun fact: this piece was originally written for piano trio, but Beethoven later adapted it for String Quintet. It is a wonderful example of tranformation and adaptation in music.

This ensemble was coached by Erin Patterson.

Do any of these activities look interesting to you?

We hope you’ll consider joining us for this year’s summer program!
